Coco remains the number one picture show at the box role this weekend past a considerable margin, mainly due to a lack of serious contest from new releases. Theater Averages: Awards Season is Shaping Up
December 6th, 2017
Information technology was another stellar weekend at the box office, at to the lowest degree as far equally the theater average nautical chart was concerned. The Shape of Water earned an average of $83,282 in 2 theaters. This is the fourth best of the yr so far. Call Me by Your Name was right behind with an average of $73,890 in four theaters. This is by far the best result of the year for a holdover, more than than doubling Lady Bird’south sophomore stint. However,
Lady Bird
expanded its theater count during its 2d weekend of release, while
Call Me by Your Name
did not. The Disaster Artist was close behind with an average of $63,755 in 19 theaters. You could argue this was the best result of the week, because the movie was playing in many more theaters than the two films higher up it. Wonder Cycle was well back with an average of $28,111 in five theaters. Usually this would be an amazing start, simply this week it won’t make an impact and it could fade away by the end of the year. Finally, Darkest Hour was the final film in the $10,000 social club earning an average of $27,093 in four theaters during its second weekend of release. More…

December tertiary, 2017
The weekend after Thanksgiving is usually when the studios take a breather before the large Christmas season, and this year is no different, with no new wide releases, and relatively minor shuffles on screen apply at the theaters. It’s therefore picayune surprise that Coco holds on at the top of the chart, and its stiff reviews and season-friendly nature help it to extend its lead over Justice League.
Coco
is headed towards $26.114 one thousand thousand this weekend, according to Disney, for $109 1000000 or so to date. That’s downward 49% from last weekend.
Justice League, meanwhile, drops a more than troubling 60% to $sixteen.58 million, for $197 million after three weekends.

Weekend Estimates: Coco Gives Disney Another Thanksgiving Win
November 26th, 2017
Coco will easily pinnacle the box function chart this Thanksgiving weekend, with Disney projecting a $71 million 5-day opening, including $49 meg from Friday to Sunday. That’southward the fourth-best Thanksgiving opening of all time, behind Frozen ($94 1000000), Moana ($82 million), and Toy Story 2 ($fourscore million). In all, Disney lays claim to x of the acme 11 opening weekend’s over this vacation period, although, to be fair, the Hunger Games and Harry Potter franchises both merits several spots in the higher reaches of the Thanksgiving weekend record chart, but were merely playing in their second weekend, rather than opening.
Nit-picking aside, it’s a great weekend for

Fri Estimates: Coco Opens Strong, But Moana was Stronger
November 25th, 2017
Information technology’due south the Sabbatum after Black Friday, so things are returning to normal. Coco is leading the way, which no 1 should be terribly surprised by. It earned $thirteen.24 million on Midweek, which was about 15% lower than Moana’south opening day. It held on meliorate on Thursday, cutting the gap to about ten% with $8.93 one thousand thousand. However, by Friday, it was behind
Moana
by xv% again. That said, if is maintains this stride throughout the rest of the weekend it will earn $48 million / $71 1000000 during its opening weekend. This is almost exactly as I predicted and more enough to make Disney very happy. Furthermore, thank you to 96% positive review and an amazing A plus from CinemaScore, as well equally no real competition for the next two weeks, the film should take excellent legs. More…
Limited and VOD Releases: Call Me Someday
Nov 24th, 2017

Normally, we only mention films that take x or more than reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this week there are only seven films in total, so nosotros might too talk about them all. To exist fair, just because information technology is a wearisome calendar week, doesn’t mean there’s nix worth checking out. In fact, at that place are several films worth checking out. The Man Who Invented Christmas is the widest release, opening in over 600 theaters. Call Me by Your Proper name is clearly the best and it is already making waves during Awards Seasons. Finally, Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story is the one I’m most interested in seeing. More…
