How To Make A Boot Jack

by -86 views

If you lot’ve been following along with my projects yous would have noticed that I’ve been upgrading the tools in my shop periodically. Woodworking is a hobby for me that has 2 very valid sides of the coin. On ane mitt I will say that having quality tools does make the experience more enjoyable at times. And on the other had I will say that you don’t necessarily demand a shop full of fancy tools to complete woodworking projects. Everyone’s journey is unique and I really don’t intendance which route you cull as long every bit y’all are having fun creating. That’southward really all that matters. That being said, this project falls under the bones tools category. I honestly virtually passed on making a video for this projection but in the end I idea it would be a skilful reminder of how easily some projects can be accomplished. I made this project out of ii feet of 1×6 material. Considering you can’t typically purchase merely two feet of inexpensive pine I splurged and spent $iv.50 on a two human foot piece of poplar. The just power tools I used in this project were at jigsaw and a cordless drill. I besides use a pair of quick hand clamps and some sandpaper.

I made a crappy prototype earlier this calendar week to get a feel for the dimensions I was going for. I ended up making mine 18” long.

I’m non a big fan of using a jigsaw just male child are they versatile. A jigsaw is something I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to do a little woodworking equally you can do and then much with it.

With the piece cut to length I made a slight taper forth it’s long sides. The taper starts at one corner and ends up iii/4” into the piece of work slice as it ends.

I traced a candle for the heel take hold of location. This was about ii” in diameter and the middle of it was about iii-1/2” away from the end. Dimensions aren’t too important for this kind of project but for reference I have included a dimensioned diagram at the stop of this article.

The lines connecting the cease of the board to the circle start iii/4” in from the corners. The resulting cut will leave ii fingers that volition hands grab your shoe or kick.

To drag the fork off of the footing I cut a two” tall piece to go along the bottom. The shape is up to y’all. I glued and screwed this on from below. Make sure you don’t become through the piece of work piece if you are using your dining tabular array as I am!

I elected not to apply a stop to mine. I desire information technology to go beat out up and dingy first. That way I can clean it upwards a bit and apply some oil to give it a nice used, rustic charm. This is a quick and easy project that anyone can make with a few simple tools. For those who sell their work at craft shows I believe this would exist a good seller for you. Information technology uses very footling wood and is incredibly fast and like shooting fish in a barrel to make.

Although this programme is free to you call back that information technology isn’t free to produce. If y’all would like to prove your thanks please consider using the donate button at the bottom of this page. If yous liked this project and plant information technology useful please share it and so others tin can exercise so too. Thanks for stopping by folks and accept a groovy day! UPDATE: Clement Germain from Belgium was kind plenty to make a metric version of the diagram for anybody to utilize. Thanks Cloudless!
