Nux joins the pursuit with Max strapped to his machine, and a battle ensues. Furiosa drives into a sand storm and loses all of her pursuers, except Nux, who attempts to sacrifice himself to blow up the Rig. Max frees himself and restrains Nux, and Furiosa destroys their car.

Later the tempest, Max finds Furiosa repairing the Rig, accompanied past Joe’south wives: Toast, Capable, the Dag, Cheedo, and Angharad, the last of whom is heavily pregnant with Joe’s child. Mad Max: Fury Road

Several critics accept called
Mad Max: Fury Road
one of the greatest action films always fabricated.[113]
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 97% of 437 critics’ reviews are positive, with an average rating of 8.sixty/10. The website’due south “critics consensus” reads: “With exhilarating action and a surprising amount of narrative heft,
Mad Max: Fury Road
brings George Miller’s post-apocalyptic franchise roaring vigorously back to life.”[114]
Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 90 out of 100, based on 51 critics, indicating “universal acclaim”.[115]
Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of “B+” on an A+ to F scale.[110]

Robbie Collin of
The Daily Telegraph
gave the moving picture a total 5 stars and praised its acting, screenplay, choreography, stunts, sense of humor, and direction, describing it as a “Krakatoan eruption of craziness”.[116]
Peter Bradshaw of
The Guardian
awarded it 4 out of v stars and wrote that information technology is “extravagantly deranged, ear-splittingly cacophonous, and entirely over the superlative”, a “bizarre convoy chase activity-thriller in the post-apocalyptic desert”.[117]

reviewer Scott Collura gave the motion picture 9.ii out of ten, writing: “the over-the-top stunts and eccentric characters and designs are all hugely important to
Fury Road, as are the troubled figures like Max himself and Furiosa, merely it’southward the overriding sense of the film’south uniqueness, its striving to be something more than just some other action flick, that is almost impressive.”[119]
Richard Roeper of the
Chicago Sun-Times
gave the film four out of 4 stars and wrote that Theron and Hardy are “1 of the best activity duos e’er, in one of the best activity movies”.[81]

Rolling Stone
due south Peter Travers chosen the film “a new activity classic”, and gave particular praise to its editing, costumes, and soundtrack.[120]
Mick LaSalle of the
San Francisco Chronicle
wrote a mixed review, praising the cinematography and Theron’due south operation, only describing the pic as a “long, deadening hunt”.[121]

At the 88th Academy Awards, the moving picture was nominated in ten categories, losing 4 (All-time Moving-picture show, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and All-time Visual Effects) and winning six (Best Film Editing, Best Product Design, Best Costume Blueprint, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, All-time Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing). Its six awards were more than any other film at that year’south anniversary[124]
and set up a new record for the most wins by an Australian movie.[125]

Listed on over 170 film critics’ top-ten lists for 2015, including 58 commencement-identify rankings and 26 second-place rankings, the film topped Metacritic’south tally of film critics year-terminate best film lists,[126]

During the writing process for
Fury Road
in 2011, Miller and McCarthy constitute that they had enough story textile for 2 additional scripts.[139]
In March 2015, during an interview with
Esquire, Hardy revealed that he was attached to star in three more
Mad Max
films following
Fury Road.[140]
Miller told
Wired
in May 2015 that if the moving-picture show became successful, he would tell the other two stories,[141]
and later that month he revealed that the fifth film in the franchise would be titled
Mad Max: The Wasteland.[142]

By October 2015, Miller’s squad had scripts for 2 sequels.[144]
After that month, he clarified that
Mad Max: The Wasteland
was a working championship for the sequel.[145]
Miller reaffirmed his intent to continue the franchise after reports to the contrary surfaced in early on 2016.[146]

In November 2017, it was reported that a lawsuit filed by Miller’s production visitor against Warner Bros. over a disputed $vii million bonus was likely to delay the production of any sequels.[147]
In July 2019, Miller told IndieWire that iii films are existence considered: two Mad Max stories and a Furiosa story.[148]

In Oct 2020, a prequel to
Fury Road, titled
Furiosa, entered “advanced evolution” at Warner Bros., with Miller set to direct. Anya Taylor-Joy was bandage to portray a young Furiosa, while Chris Hemsworth and Tom Shush will star in unspecified roles. Miller co-wrote the screenplay with Nico Lathouris, and Miller and Doug Mitchell volition produce through their Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner.[149]
In Dec 2020, Warner Bros. announced that the film would be released on 23 June 2023,[150]
but the release was subsequently pushed dorsum to 24 May 2024.[151]
In a Feb 2021 interview, composer Junkie XL confirmed that he would return to write the score for
